FOOTBALL MATCHUP GUIDE · OCTOBER 19 SNAPSHOT

October 19 Football Matchup Guide: NFL and College Stats

Side-by-side season numbers, league ranks and original matchup analysis for 15 NFL games and six October 24 college games.

October 19, 2026 pre-Monday Night Football snapshot

NFL lines are historical DraftKings quotes displayed via ESPN at approximately 11:05 a.m. ET on October 19. College spreads are morning reference numbers from the public Dimers slate, retrieved at approximately 11:07 a.m. ET; the specific sportsbook, price and quote time were not verified. These are archived snapshots, not current executable odds. Player availability, later results and subsequent market changes are not updated in this article.

The useful comparison starts with both teams on the same page: how they score, how they move the ball, what they allow and whether they sustain drives. This guide pairs ten season measures for each matchup, then separates the latest-game facts from the broader statistical profile.

The slate covers Washington at San Francisco on October 19, all 14 Week 7 NFL games, and six selected college games on October 24. The matchup reads are original analysis of the displayed numbers. They are descriptive comparisons, not model forecasts or announced wagers.

Latest completed games in this snapshot

  • WSH 10-11 vs NYG, 27–27. 378 net yards, 6.3 YPP, 202 rush; allowed 408 yards. Jayden Daniels: 199 pass yds, 0 TD/0 INT. Terry McLaurin: 4/62 on 4 targets.
  • SF 10-11 vs SEA, 32–29. 269 net yards, 4.8 YPP, 94 rush; allowed 251 yards. Brock Purdy: 189 pass yds, 2 TD/1 INT. Mike Evans: 7/113 on 10 targets.

What the numbers suggest

San Francisco enters this snapshot third in scoring and fourth in points allowed. Washington's sixth-ranked rushing offense offers a way to sustain possessions, but the third-down gap is substantial: 31.88% for Washington against San Francisco's league-leading 51.92%. Washington's positive turnover margin is a counterweight to that efficiency mismatch, not a guarantee that takeaways will recur.

Market source

Latest completed games in this snapshot

  • NE 10-18 vs NYJ, 26–19. 383 net yards, 5.6 YPP, 148 rush; allowed 324 yards. Drake Maye: 235 pass yds, 3 TD/0 INT. DeMario Douglas: 7/86 on 8 targets.
  • CHI 10-18 vs ATL, 31–23. 368 net yards, 5.0 YPP, 98 rush; allowed 257 yards. Caleb Williams: 305 pass yds, 1 TD/0 INT. Luther Burden III: 8/95 on 8 targets.

What the numbers suggest

Both defenses rank in the top seven for points and total yards allowed, setting a stronger defensive baseline than the scoring total alone might suggest. Chicago leads the league in rushing yards per game, while New England ranks eighth in rushing yards allowed. New England's negative turnover margin complicates a matchup in which its yardage production otherwise compares well.

Market source

Latest completed games in this snapshot

  • PIT 10-18 vs TB, 26–19. 300 net yards, 3.9 YPP, 89 rush; allowed 224 yards. Aaron Rodgers: 253 pass yds, 2 TD/1 INT. DK Metcalf: 11/93 on 15 targets.
  • NO 10-18 vs NYG, 34–27. 319 net yards, 4.7 YPP, 175 rush; allowed 461 yards. Tyler Shough: 144 pass yds, 3 TD/0 INT. Chris Olave: 4/43 on 7 targets.

What the numbers suggest

The two offenses average almost identical total yardage, yet New Orleans scores more and converts third downs at a higher rate. Pittsburgh has the stronger defensive profile: ninth in yards allowed compared with New Orleans at 29th. The Saints' latest win included 461 yards conceded, so the final score alone does not resolve that defensive concern; this matchup is at a neutral site in France.

Latest completed games in this snapshot

  • KC 10-18 vs LAC, 22–6. 422 net yards, 7.4 YPP, 150 rush; allowed 259 yards. Patrick Mahomes: 272 pass yds, 0 TD/1 INT. Xavier Worthy: 7/73 on 7 targets.
  • SEA 10-15 vs DEN, 14–17. 353 net yards, 4.3 YPP, 113 rush; allowed 168 yards. Sam Darnold: 278 pass yds, 0 TD/2 INT. Jaxon Smith-Njigba: 12/134 on 16 targets.

What the numbers suggest

The league's top-ranked total offense meets its top-ranked defense by yards allowed. Kansas City also ranks second in rushing offense, creating a different test from simply asking whether Seattle can limit passing yards. Seattle's 353-yard performance in its latest loss shows why production, possession security and the result need to be considered separately.

Latest completed games in this snapshot

  • DAL 10-18 vs GB, 13–23. 303 net yards, 4.3 YPP, 48 rush; allowed 318 yards. Dak Prescott: 258 pass yds, 1 TD/2 INT. George Pickens: 6/73 on 11 targets.
  • PHI 10-18 vs CAR, 14–25. 222 net yards, 3.6 YPP, 35 rush; allowed 399 yards. Tanner McKee: 215 pass yds, 1 TD/0 INT. DeVonta Smith: 7/75 on 14 targets.

What the numbers suggest

Dallas's passing volume is the clearest offensive strength in the table, but both teams rank in the bottom four for rushing yards per game. Philadelphia's 30th-ranked total offense meets a Dallas defense that is also 30th in yards allowed. That combination leaves room for offensive improvement without making a rebound automatic; both teams produced fewer than 305 yards in their latest games.

What the numbers suggest

Houston's fourth-ranked passing offense meets a Giants defense that ranks fifth in passing yards allowed. In the other direction, Houston ranks 27th against the pass, leaving a plausible route for New York to move the ball. Both teams exceeded 425 yards in their latest games, but those one-game totals are substantially above their season averages.

  • BAL 10-18 vs CLE, 10–13. 235 net yards, 4.1 YPP, 87 rush; allowed 237 yards. Tyler Huntley: 165 pass yds, 1 TD/0 INT. Zay Flowers: 6/66 on 11 targets.

What the numbers suggest

Cincinnati's offense leans toward the pass and ranks second on third down, while Baltimore's third-ranked rushing attack supplies a different route to sustained drives. Their season scoring averages are close, at 25.6 and 26.0. Baltimore's latest 235-yard game with Tyler Huntley is a narrower sample than the full-season table and should not be treated as a settled baseline for the next matchup.

What the numbers suggest

This is a meeting of two bottom-four offenses by total yardage, with Cleveland also last in third-down conversion. Both won their latest games despite gaining fewer than 240 yards. Cleveland's better scoring-defense ranking gives it one comparative strength, while either side's ability to avoid empty possessions could matter more than last week's win-loss result.

What the numbers suggest

Minnesota leads the league in points allowed and turnover margin; Indianapolis sits last in turnover margin. That is the sharpest contrast on the page, although turnover outcomes are volatile. The Colts gained 399 yards in their latest loss, so there is evidence of offensive movement even as Minnesota presents a much stronger defensive test.

What the numbers suggest

Miami's tenth-ranked rushing offense is its clearest way into this matchup against a Jets defense ranked 23rd in rushing yards allowed. The passing comparison is less favorable: Miami ranks 31st in passing production and New York fourth in passing yards allowed. The Jets also hold the stronger turnover-margin profile, but neither offense has established a high-scoring season baseline.

What the numbers suggest

San Francisco's third-ranked scoring offense faces an Atlanta defense that has been stronger against the run than the pass. Atlanta's own fourth-ranked rushing attack gives it a way to sustain drives, but its negative turnover margin is a major drag on the season profile. These San Francisco numbers exclude the October 19 Washington game, so this is a pre-Monday comparison rather than a complete Week 7 update.

  • CAR 10-18 vs PHI, 25–14. 399 net yards, 5.4 YPP, 126 rush; allowed 222 yards. Bryce Young: 281 pass yds, 2 TD/0 INT. Jalen Coker: 6/97 on 13 targets.

What the numbers suggest

Carolina leads the league in passing yards per game and ranks second in total offense. Tampa Bay's strongest defensive ranking is against the run, which does not directly neutralize Carolina's primary statistical strength. Tampa Bay's ninth-ranked rushing offense, meanwhile, faces a Carolina defense ranked 27th in rushing yards allowed, giving the teams contrasting ways to move the ball.

What the numbers suggest

Denver's latest win came with 168 total yards, consistent with a season offense ranked 31st in yardage. Arizona has produced more offense but allowed 29.7 points per game, leaving a tension between Denver's limited production and Arizona's defensive results. Denver's positive turnover margin helps explain how wins can arrive without strong yardage, but it cannot be assumed to repeat.

What the numbers suggest

Green Bay's fifth-ranked passing offense matches up with Detroit's last-ranked pass defense by yards allowed. Detroit brings the more productive scoring offense, while Green Bay has the better scoring and yardage defense. The Packers' league-low rushing average makes their passing game central to the comparison rather than a secondary route.

What the numbers suggest

The Rams rank third in both total offense and total defense, yet their scoring offense is only 21st. Las Vegas scores more despite gaining fewer yards, illustrating why yardage and points are not interchangeable. Both passing offenses rank in the top seven, but the Rams' second-ranked pass defense provides a contrasting obstacle for the Raiders.

  • Indiana: L 15-19 vs Ohio State. 369-313 yards; 73 rush on 29 carries; two lost fumbles. Josh Hoover: 296 pass yards.
  • Michigan: W 21-18 vs Penn State. 211 rushing yards; 90 passing. Tommy Carr went 5-of-7 for 47 yards after the halftime QB change.

What the numbers suggest

Both teams rank in the top 12 for points allowed and the top eight for rushing yards allowed in this FBS-only sample. Indiana has the broader offensive production, while Michigan ranks 111th in total offense and 121st in passing yards. Michigan's 211 rushing yards in its latest win matter, but repeating that approach against Indiana's defensive profile is a separate challenge.

What the numbers suggest

BYU's strongest comparison is its ability to sustain drives: ninth in third-down conversion against UCF at 106th. BYU also has the better scoring and yardage defense. UCF returns from an idle week, but its latest 110 rushing yards on 41 attempts suggests that additional possessions alone would not solve its efficiency problem.

  • Texas A&M: W 41-0 vs FCS The Citadel. 501 yards, 264 rushing; allowed 183. Reed: 8/13, 130 yards, one TD; Hart played the second half.
  • Alabama: L 10-26 at Tennessee. 201 yards, 54 rushing, 2-of-13 on third down, four giveaways.

What the numbers suggest

Alabama's fifth-ranked scoring offense looks very different from its latest 201-yard, 10-point performance. Texas A&M's 41-0 win came against an FCS opponent, so that game is not included in these season tables. The broader FBS sample gives Alabama the stronger offensive profile, while A&M's defensive yardage ranking is slightly better.

  • Virginia Tech: W 34-24 vs Georgia Tech; outgained 428-409. Que'Sean Brown: 182 receiving yards, 180 before halftime. Five sacks allowed.
  • Clemson: W 37-0 vs FCS Charleston Southern. 438 yards, 231 rushing; allowed 76 yards and 0-of-11 third downs. Tait Reynolds: 127 pass yards.

What the numbers suggest

Virginia Tech's 12th-ranked passing offense is the clearest strength in this comparison, but five sacks allowed in its latest game show the importance of protection. Clemson's 37-0 result came against an FCS opponent and is excluded from the season table. Its FBS-only offense ranks 107th in yardage and 111th on third down, so the shutout win is not sufficient evidence of a sustained offensive turnaround.

Market source

Latest completed games in this snapshot

  • Ole Miss: W 31-3 vs Missouri. 498 yards; 257-39 rushing edge. Kewan Lacy: 122 rush yards.
  • Texas: L 24-27 vs Florida. 272 yards on 50 snaps; 99 rush; 2-of-10 third downs. Manning: 14/20, 173 yards. A punt-return TD contributed to the score; possession 21:49.

What the numbers suggest

Ole Miss's top-15 passing and scoring production meets a Texas defense ranked seventh in total yards allowed and 11th against the pass. Texas's latest 24 points included a punt-return touchdown, while its offense gained 272 yards and converted two of ten third downs. Sustaining offensive possessions is therefore a distinct question from whether Texas can contain Ole Miss.

  • Utah: W 27-24 at Colorado. 409-394 yardage edge; 37 minutes possession. Dampier: 278 pass yards, three TDs, two INTs.

What the numbers suggest

Both offenses rank in the top 14 for total yardage and third-down conversion, so sustained drives are a credible route for either team. Utah has the stronger scoring defense, while Houston ranks 130th in passing yards allowed. Houston's latest five passing touchdowns and three successful fourth-down attempts helped produce a narrow win, but those conversion outcomes should not be treated as an automatic repeat.

How to read the stats and ranks

Each table cell shows the season value followed by its published statistical rank. NFL ranks cover 32 teams. College ranks cover 138 FBS teams and use FBS-opponent-only results; FCS games are excluded from those season tables. Latest-game summaries are separate one-game samples and may include an FCS opponent.

The season snapshot was retrieved on October 19 before Washington-San Francisco. NFL figures include completed games through October 18; college figures include completed FBS games through October 17. San Francisco appears twice because the guide includes its October 19 game and its Week 7 matchup. Neither table includes its October 19 result.

Ranks come from TeamRankings season tables and preserve the published ties. Equal rounded values can have different ranks because the source has greater underlying precision. Rank 1 is highest for offensive production, third-down rate and turnover margin; it is lowest for points and yards allowed. These are statistical rankings, not polls or opponent-adjusted predictions.

Teams have played different numbers of games, and the tables are not adjusted for schedule strength. A one-game performance is context rather than a trend. Rankings alone do not establish a betting edge.
